John Nieto, a senior scientist at Harris RF Communications, has received the 2014 Harris Fellow Award for his contributions to the company in the fields of engineering and communications technology.
Harris said Friday Nieto has contributed to at least 50 company patents and to the development of the Falcon radio system used by the Defense Department, among other agencies.
“While [Nieto] is particularly well-known for his work in the HF radio band, John’s contributions and those of his team extend across the frequency spectrum,” said Dana Mehnert, group president at Harris RF Communications.
“He has dedicated himself to advancing tactical voice and data communications and serves an outstanding leader and mentor.”
Nieto, an electrical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, co-authored a book entitled “Third Generation and Wideband HF Radio Communications.”
He was recognized at the annual Harris Fellows Banquet in Florida.
