Mark Weatherford, a principal at The Chertoff Group, has been promoted to the senior member ranks at the Information Systems Security Association.
Weatherford holds the distinction of serving as the Department of Homeland Security‘s first-ever deputy cybersecurity undersecretary and is also a former chief security officer at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, Chertoff Group announced Tuesday.
The senior member title is for cybersecurity professionals that hold 10 or more years of experience in the security community, Chertoff Group says.
“The Fellow Program attracts a highly competitive pool of candidates and I am pleased to announce that 60 members from 27 chapters have been awarded Senior Member status,†said Ira Winkler, ISSA president.
“I am honored to receive this recognition as Senior Member from ISSA and I am grateful for their work to encourage professionals to pursue studies that create a more successful environment for global information systems security,” Weatherford said.
Weatherford has also served as chief information security officer for the states of California and Colorado.
