Smartphone1 EbizAn online waterway monitoring tool developed by Indus Corp. for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has won an innovation award from The American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council.

Indus and EPA received the Top Innovator award for their How’s my Waterway application through the ACT-IAC Igniting Innovation Awards Program, Indus said Wednesday.

The web-based app is designed with GPS and touch interaction features and works to help users access data about the quality of local waterways, pollution reports and clean-up efforts.

Indus says EPA’s app is built to deliver water quality information using map displays and color-coded lists from a smartphone, a tablet or a computer.

A panel of industry and government judges picked the Indus-built app from nearly 100 technology submissions.
