Six Newport News Shipbuilding and two Ingalls Shipbuilding engineers were honored at the 2018 Black Engineer of the Year Award STEM Global Competitive Conference achievements in promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The engineers received the awards during the conference in Washington that took place Feb. 6 through Feb. 8, Huntington Ingalls, the parent company of Newport News and Ingalls, announced Monday.
Engineers from Newport News Shipbuilding picked for the awards were Allen Cason, Fernando Gaines, Kimberly Grubb, Kevin Martin, Benjamin Price and Vaughn Walston.
Brandon Horton and Roy Townsend Sr. were the awarded engineers from Ingalls Shipbuilding.
