Jacobs Engineering Group has won an award for a Novartis facility that it provided design, engineering, procurement and construction management services for.
The  U.S. Flu Cell Culture Facility at the Novartis Campus in Holly Springs, N.C. won the 2013 Facility of the Year Award from the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, INTERPHEX and Pharmaceutical Processing magazine, Jacobs Engineering announced Tuesday.
The facility uses a cell culture technology of containment convertibility to manufacture seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccines.
It is also able to run at lower levels and higher containment levels when required.
“It was an honor to work alongside Novartis and help meet their vaccine manufacturing needs for patients worldwide,” said Chris Nagel, Jacobs Group vice president.
“We appreciate the trust they place in us and are very pleased that we were able to contribute to this award-winning project,” he added.
