Diana Ceban, vice president of federal health at Science Applications International Corp. said military health agencies should modernize core information technology systems as they advance upgrades to clinical technology platforms to improve patients’ access to services and achieve a continuum of care. Ceban noted that there are three phases to health IT modernization that could be used to coordinate updates to clinical systems and core IT back-end platforms.

Collins Aerospace has completed a data transfer test between its airborne satellite communications platform with a high gain antenna and an Iridium satellite in orbit. Collins Aerospace said Monday it achieved the second milestone in ongoing work on Iridium Certus airborne satellite communications equipment following a similar demonstration of its active low gain antenna in August of last year.

QinetiQ Inc. has been awarded a design-phase contract from Hypersat for the next generation hyperspectral satellites. The award will help Hypersat actualize its plans to launch six low Earth orbit satellites capable of producing better information about the material properties on Earth than any satellite currently in orbit, QinetiQ said Wednesday.
