Lockheed to Supply Targeting Pods for Qatar Fighter Aircraft - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin has secured a contract of an undisclosed value to provide a targeting system for installation on Qatar’s Rafale fighter aircraft fleet.

The company said Monday it will begin to deliver Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods , spares and fielding support to the Qatar Emiri Air Force starting next year.

ATP is designed to identify and track small tactical targets at a long range and works with laser- and GPS-guided weapons built to engage multiple targets.

QEAF’s Rafale will be the 10th platform to employ the Sniper technology, Lockheed noted.

Efforts are underway to integrate and test-fly the targeting system.

Sniper ATPs are being used on A-10, B-1, B-52, F-2, F-15, F-16, F-18, Harrier and Typhoon aircraft platforms.
