The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has partnered with Oracle to utilize the latter’s cloud-based platform for managing procedures related to the U.S. government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

Oracle said Tuesday it is providing its public health management applications suite to support CDC processes such as COVID-19 vaccine ordering, shipment tracking, inventory management and patient coordination for data collection.

The company also developed a National Electronic Health Records database that serves as a central repository for real-time vaccination data from various locations to aid health care providers and agencies.

Oracle’s National EHR system acts as a clearinghouse for anonymized patient data meant to support reporting and analysis activities under designated organizations and agencies, according to the company.

The tool also enables receivers of the COVID-19 vaccine to directly access health care professionals through devices such as smartphones.

Previously, Oracle partnered with the Tony Blair Institute to deploy the cloud-based system to help manage the vaccination of over 70K people in Africa against yellow fever.

Oracle first rolled out the public health management suite in June.
