Zoom has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the enterprise video communications firm's preferred cloud provider. Under a multi-year partnership agreement, Zoom will continue to leverage AWS’ global infrastructure and portfolio of services, including capabilities in compute, storage, content distribution and security, to create a seamless, secure extension of its data centers.

Amazon Web Services and OmniSci have partnered to apply the former's new computing product to the latter's data analytics platform used by industry and government customers. AWS said Monday its Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud or EC2 P4d instances bring additional graphics processing unit performance suitable for complex ML models and accelerate ML training by three times.

Maxar Technologies collaborated with Amazon Web Services to build a cloud-based computing technology designed to accelerate processing of global weather data at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, SiliconANGLE reported Tuesday. “We knew NOAA had capabilities of weather prediction models in traditional on-premises, big beefy high-performance supercomputers, but we wanted to do it in the cloud; we wanted to use AWS as a key partner,” said Travis Hartman, director of analytics and weather at Maxar.

Mitre has issued the results of its assessments of cybersecurity platforms from 21 companies to help industry and government agencies improve their capabilities to detect and combat cyber threats. Mitre evaluated the cyber offerings using its ATT&CK knowledge base to emulate the techniques used by APT29, a cyber threat group believed to be related to the Russian government, the nonprofit corporation said Tuesday.
