The Department of Defense (DoD) has announced a new data strategy, intended to drive the defense department to more effectively use data. Dave Spirk, the recently appointed chief data officer (CDO) for DoD, said that the strategy will support a “joint warfighting” approach to data collection, management and use. Spirk was appointed to the role in June 2020.

BAE Systems and Leonardo have been awarded a potential $420M contract to develop the Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA), the European Common Radar System Mark 2 (ECRS Mk2) for the Royal Air Force's (RAF) Eurofighter Typhoons, BAE said Thursday. Under the contract, the two companies will work to develop a standard radar to be integrated on to RAF Typhoons.

C3.ai has made an agreement with the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO) to deliver and deploy the C3 AI Suite and C3.ai Readiness to support predictive analytics and maintenance across the Air Force enterprise. C3.ai will integrate its C3 AI Suite and extend C3.ai Readiness to deploy an AI-based predictive maintenance application for the USAF to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance processes. 

Avaya has appointed Stephen Spears as chief revenue officer (CRO) to add to the company's strategic executive management team. Spears will report to president and CEO Jim Chirico, Avaya said on Wednesday. In his new role, Spears will supervise the strategy, performance and alignment of revenue operations for Avaya, as well as accelerate execution on the company’s growth strategy.
