International Data Corp. has projected the global Internet of Things market to grow 19 percent in 2015 and highlighted the digital signage area as a trend to watch in IoT.
IDC said Tuesday the forecast indicates an increase of IoT applications in consumer, retail, healthcare, government, manufacturing, transportation and other industries.
Bob Kraus, senior research analyst for global technology and industry research organization at IDC, said the report seeks to help business leaders assess opportunities in IoT for “modules/sensors, software, installation/ongoing services, and connectivity.”
IDC also predicts an 18.6 percent compound annual growth rate for the IoT market in manufacturing operations from 2013 through 2018.
The market research firm forecasts the U.S. market in connected vehicles to grow 34.8 percent year-over-year in 2015.
