Northrop Grumman has entered into a lease agreement with Grand Sky Development Corp. to build office and hangar facilities at an aviation business complex being developed in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) said Tuesday construction of a Northrop office building at the Grand Sky Tech Park on the Grand Forks Air Force Base is scheduled to begin in September.
He added Northrop plans to move employees to the facility by September 2016 and then construct additional office space and an aircraft hangar.
The company partnered with the University of North Dakota and the Grand Forks Base Realignment Impact Committee to help drive unmanned aerial system innovation.
The U.S. Air Force houses a fleet of Northrop-built Global Hawk drones at the military service’s Grand Forks airbase.
