cyber hack network computerIBM’s security business and If Property and Casualty Insurance have partnered to help If’s business area commercial clients in risk management using IBM’s cyber insurance offering.

If’s claim agents will collaborate with IBM personnel to evaluate the security status of a company following detection of malware, virus, distributed denial of service and hacking attacks, IBM said Monday.

“Awareness about cyber threats increases all the time,” said Julian Meyrick, vice president of security services at IBM Europe.

“This need for protection [in all areas of enterprise security] applies to companies of all sizes, and we are delighted to work together with If to create new possibilities, as well as prepare for security threats,” he added.

If will evaluate risk potential and a potential policyholder’s security posture against an evaluation questionnaire jointly developed with IBM.

The partnership also provides IBM and If with a mechanism to assist customers in bolstering their security controls and procedures after a cyber attack is mitigated.
