Harris and the state of Maine’s information technology office have worked to deploy a new radio system intended to facilitate communications among public safety agencies throughout the state.
The Maine State Communications Network is powered by the company’s integrated voice, interoperability, data and access technology, and designed to connect with 40 transmitter and receiver sites, Harris said Monday.
According to the company, MSCommNet works to allow communications system interoperability for more than 2,000 police, wildlife troopers, forest rangers, prison officers and marine patrol personnel.
Maine public safety organizations also use Harris’ Unity XG-100 portable radios to communicate in the event of a critical situation.
