AlionAlion Science and Technology will provide research, development, test and evaluation services to the Air Force Research Laboratory for command-and-control technologies through September 2017 under the $4.5 million Holistic Waveform Development Kit contract.

The company said Thursday it will help AFRL integrate technologies with the HAWK Advanced Waveform Development Environment Ecosystem to support software-defined radio waveforms and enable network interoperability.

“Warfighters operate in intensely dynamic environments, and voice and data connectivity play a significant role in the success of their mission,” said Chris Amos, senior vice president and manager of Alion’s technology solutions group.

He added that the program seeks to bolster data transmission rates for wireless communications and speed up deployment of communications and radar system updates.

Under the contract, Alion said it will also work to improve the FLEX Data Link architecture.
