A joint venture of Battelle and Stony Brook University has received a $3.2 billion contract to continue to run the Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York until Jan. 4, 2020.
The Energy Department awarded the five-year management and operations contract to Brookhaven Science Associates through competition, DOE said Wednesday.
Brookhaven Science Associates has supported the DOE-owned lab since 1998.
DOE plans to award performance-based incentives that could extend work for up to 20 years and increase the total contract value to $13 billion.
BSA also collaborates with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the universities of Yale, Columbia, Harvard, Princeton and Cornell to manage Brookhaven National Laboratory.
