Jacobs Engineering Group has completed a study on how redeemable biomass electricity credits for usage in Riau, Indonesia.
The project is a collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah in Riau, Sumatra with financial backing provided by the Energy and Environment Partnership Indonesia (EEP) and additional efforts supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.
“Jacobs is pleased to take part in opportunities that utilize the comapny’s technical expertise to examine ways to deliver potential benefits to the communities of countries around the world in which we operate,” said Kevin McMahon, a Jacobs group vice president.
The study examined how the RBEC concept could be applied in the analysis of those financial, social, logistical and environmental factors that effect the rural communities in Riau and their potential to increase access to affordable energy and overall quality of life.
The completed study was presented to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Government of Indonesia.
