Data Direct Networks has unveiled its latest generation of storage enclosures that each have a capacity of 5 petabytes per rack, an increase the company says the amount of data that can be kept than was previously offered.
The SS8460 is designed for clients with high-performance computing environments that seek big data tools without costs of ownership, DNN said Monday.
DDN built the new suite to accommodate 84 drives with 6-terabyte drives in a 4U rack space, facilitate long-term leeway for future expansion needs, emit low heat and permit intermixing of hard disk drive types — SSD, SATA and SAS.
“In a world where data growth is outpacing the power and space needed to store and manage it, customers are relying on the vendors that continually innovate to maximize data center footprint and power utilization,†said Molly Rector, chief marketing officer at DDN.
The company said the new generation is now available and is compatible with DNN’s SFA12K or SFA7700 big data appliances.
