Iusacell has rolled out a TeleCommunication Systems-built locator application to customers across Mexico.
TCS designed the TCS Family Locator to help customers view the locations of their family members and friends on a map via assisted-GPS and wireless local area network connectivity, the company said Monday.
In Mexico, the application is branded as Ubicacel Familiar.
Jay Whitehurst, TCS commercial services group president, said the the company built the app to help users connect and stay safe using mobile devices and computers.
The locator app is designed to work with third-party network infrastructures for devices without GPS support.
Users will receive notifications about the whereabouts of family members at a user-defined schedule, as well as alerts on a person’s geo-location range, TCS says.
