S. Danny Rajan: New Exelis Airborne Surveillance System Helps to Monitor Multiple Areas

Exelis Inc. has unveiled a new airborne surveillance system that is intended to help detect illegal and dangerous activities in multiple areas of coverage.

S. Danny Rajan, director of regional surveillance systems at Exelis, said Tuesday the CorvusEye 1500 works to capture a wide view of an entire area for customers to identify threats to “border security, high-profile events, critical infrastructure and/or other trends of interest.”

“CorvusEye can capture activity occurring simultaneously in multiple areas that might go unnoticed using traditional surveillance such as full-motion video,” added Rajan.

The surveillance system features a color electro-optical sensor for monitoring a three-kilometer-wide area and the CogniSense analytical framework for processing data from sensors.

CorvusEye is designed to collect intelligence using archived footage and provide data streaming to mobile devices from manned and unmanned platforms.

Exelis is scheduled to demonstrate CorvusEye from May 12 to 15 in Orlando, Fla.
