Siemens and Shanghai Electric Group have signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese utility company Huaneng Power International to further develop gas turbine, steam turbine and wind power technology.
Huaneng intends to bolster its power generation efficiency and sustainability work in the area of clean energy development, Siemens said Friday
“We can look back on a long and successful partnership with China. The strategic agreement with Huaneng Power International is a next step, which further underlines our relationship,” Joe Kaeser, Siemens AG president and CEO.
The companies signed the agreement in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jin Ping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
Huaneng owns, operates and manages power plants in 19 regions across China.
