Boeing Chief Operating Officer Dennis Muilenburg outlined the company’s approach to production of commercial airplanes in response to global market competition before Senate lawmakers on Thursday, Herald Net reported Sunday.
Dan Catchpole writes that Muilenburg also detailed Boeing’s plan to increase production rates for the 737 and 787 aircraft lines and to introduce the fresh 787-9 and -10, 737 MAX and 777x aircraft models.
“Some 80 percent of our commercial airplane sales, and nearly 30 percent of our defense and space sales, are outside of the United States,†he said in the Senate aviation subcommittee hearing, according to the report.
Muilenburg said the company intends to address demands in China, India and other emerging markets, as well as to respond to customers’ need for fleet upgrades, according to the report.
