Lockheed Martin plans to establish a maintenance, repair and operations center to work with aviation customers in India and other South Asian countries, the New India Express reported Monday.
Sunitha Natti writes Lockheed is carrying out a feasibility analysis to study market requirements and potential locations for an aircraft engine MRO center in India.
“We are talking to several of our partners to determine their requirements and how we could offer assistance if we were to set up an MRO,” Phil Shaw, Lockheed CEO for Indian operations, told the publication.
“We are open to either setting up a facility from scratch or look at existing facilities for a likely tie-up,” Shaw added, according to Natti’s report.
Lockheed and Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. established a Hyderabad-based joint venture that provides aerostructure assembly services to defense customers.
Shaw said market data indicates that the Indian aircraft market is poised to grow within the next two decades.
