Northrop Grumman has transported antennas for the U.S. Air Force’s GPS satellites to the Lockheed Martin team that is developing the spacecraft in Littleton, Colo.
Northrop’s Astro Aerospace business unit delivered 32 JIB antennas for GPS III satellite numbers three through six, Northrop said Wednesday.
Dan Johansen, a program manager at Astro Aerospace, said the unit plans to deliver 16 additional antennas for the seventh and eighth GPS III to the team early this year.
Eight JIB antennas will be installed on each GPS III satellite for a radio frequency array formation.
GPS III satellites feature a new civil signal that is intended to work with navigation satellite systems worldwide.
