northrop-Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman has been awarded a potential $33 million task order to design and build training systems for the U.S. Navy to prepare sailors for navigation and weapons launching activities.

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center selected Northrop for the order under the SeaPort-e contract vehicle, Northrop said Tuesday.

Work will also include system analysis, product assurance, technology updates and performance evaluation.

Jack Dorsett, vice president of C2 systems for Northrop, said the company and the branch has been working together for more than three decades to provide command and control training systems to warfare sailors.

The company was awarded a contract last year to maintain Navy trainer systems at seven global submarine learning facilities and has built 33 computer-based trainer applications through the Navy’s Open-architecture Reconfigurable Training System program.
