CGI and Canadian regulators have finalized the details of a project to manage Canada’s document filing systems, clearing the way for a Jan. 13 launch of the securities databases under new management, the Globe and Mail reported Friday.
Janet McFarland writes the Montreal-based information technology company won a potential eight-year deal in April but the scheduled changeover from previous operator CDS was postponed twice.
Prior to last week’s announcement, the Canadian Securities Administrators said after the delays that all parties were still deciding on an ideal transition date.
CSA said all three systems would be shutdown on Friday, Jan. 10 to prepare for CGI’s implementation.
Only one — the System for Electronic Documents Analysis and Retrieval — will require filers to install a new desktop application for its continued use, according to the Globe and Mail.
