Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies subsidiary, has opened a new laboratory at its Camden, Arkansas, site to expand its solid rocket motor materials chemical testing capabilities supporting defense programs.
The Camden laboratory provides 5,200 square feet of space to enable the company to move pressurized gas cylinders manually, install additional tensile testing stations and add an upgraded ventilation system for better airflow, L3Harris said Monday.
The facility will support inert and energetic program testing for military programs and raw material testing for conformance quality and shelf life extension.
“With greater testing capability at reduced costs, this new facility improves Camden’s operational efficiency and supports the site’s ability to meet its growing capacity needs,” said Tyler Evans, president of Aerojet Rocketdyne’s missile solutions sector.
L3Harris acquired Aerojet Rocketdyne in a $4.7 billion cash transaction in July to expand its business opportunities across the rocket engine, missile defense and hypersonics markets.
