Mariana Garavaglia, formerly chief operating officer at Peloton Interactive, has joined Relativity Space as chief business and people officer.
She will be responsible for Relativity Space’s talent acquisition efforts, legal, people, environmental health and safety teams and security, the company said Monday.
Garavaglia has been serving as an adviser to Relativity Space since the summer of 2021.
“Having worked with, and learned from, Mariana over the past few months during an advisory role, I am excited to have her tremendous leadership full time on our team as we tackle ambitious growth plans,” said Tim Ellis, co-founder and CEO of Relativity Space.
Prior to Peloton, Garavaglia spent more than a decade at Amazon and held a number of leadership roles, including managing director for Amazon Books, director and head of stores and operations of Amazon Physical Retail and head of human resources for Amazon Advertising, Search and Discovery.
The executive move comes as Relativity Space prepares to conduct a demonstration flight of its first 3D-printed rocket, Terran 1, in 2022. The company also plans to move to the production phase its reusable 3D-printed launch vehicle, Terran R.
