Serco Group’s U.S. arm has received a potential $21.9 million contract from the U.S. Navy to support a program executive office ships unit in designing, building, testing and outfitting all DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers.
Work will occur at Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., and other contracting sites through Sept. 8, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division in Indiana is the contracting activity and is obligating $16.5 million in fiscal 2022 ship construction funds.
Serco Inc. will support the mission of the service’s PEO Ships PMS 400D, which is responsible for DDG 51 ships.
PEO Ships reports to the assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition and oversees the design and construction of amphibious ships, destroyers, special mission and support ships and other boats and craft for U.S. agencies and foreign military sales customers.
