Kratos Defense and Security Solutions helped Space Vector and the U.S. Space Force launch a scientific experiment via a sounding rocket from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on March 3.

Kratos said Friday its team for the Sounding Rocket Program-4 effort lifted up the sounding launch vehicle, which carried a scientific experiment from the Air Force Research Laboratory.

The company integrated rocket systems and avionics, managed interfaces and planned activities for the mission. Kratos holds a subcontract with Space Vector that leads efforts under a potential $424 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

Sounding rockets work to record data for scientific experiments while in sub-orbital flight. The three-stage SRP-4 rocket has performed all planned activities for AFRL's experiment and will splash down into the Atlantic Ocean.

Kratos' Defense and Rocket Support Services or KDRSS worked with New Mexico State University to deliver the mission's avionics and vehicle systems.
