SpaceX has agreed to become Satellogic’s preferred provider of rideshare launch services in support of the latter's plan to develop its Earth Observation Constellation by 2022.
Under a new partnership between the two companies, Satellogic said Tuesday its Earth observation satellites will launch on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, with the first mission scheduled for June this year.
Satellogic's satellite constellation is designed to support geospatial analytics via high-frequency, high-resolution imagery. The company expects its data to support customers across financial, telecommunications, energy, forestry and agriculture industries.
The constellation can gather over 1.5M square miles of high-resolution data per day. Satellogic also provides exclusive dedicated satellite constellation services to government customers.
Tom Ochinero, vice president of commercial sales at SpaceX, said the company's frequent launch schedule would allow Satellogic to launch satellites faster.
