IBM, General Dynamics, BAE Highlight Hybrid Cloud Offerings at AUSA Conference

IBM, BAE Systems and General Dynamics presented at the 2020 Association of the United States Army conference their hybrid cloud services that can be moved from one system to another, Breaking Defense reported Tuesday.

IBM’s cloud offering includes its artificial intelligence platform Watson, which can work in other cloud environments offered by other service providers.

“Relying on one public cloud alone locks you in, locks into only one company’s innovation,” IBM CEO Arvind Krishna said at the AUSA conference. “It’s a monocloud.”

Peter Virador, chief cloud architect at General Dynamics, discussed how coding the user interface could help accelerate cloud deployment and ensure that data ported across services remains useful.

“Without infrastructure as code, you have to log in to a provider User Interface, click around, configure it, use their cloud resources,” said Virador. “Great, if just starting, but best practice in terms of speed of deployment is to declare to the cloud via its API what you want the environment to look like, describe the environment by code.”

BAE highlighted its Federated Secure Cloud offering at the AUSA event through a virtual booth.
