The U.S. Navy is looking for potential sources that can help the service branch design and develop an integrated combat infrastructure for current and future surface vessels.
The Navy said in a notice posted Tuesday on the beta SAM website that it plans to leverage commercially available infrastructure-as-a-service capabilities as part of the Future Integrated Combat System effort.
FICS contract work will support Naval Sea Systems Command’s Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems in implementing an enterprise cloud-based IaaS architecture for the Navy’s surface vessel programs by 2023.
The potential contractor will also perform continuous hardware updates for a range of vessels including aircraft carriers, small surface combatants, amphibious ships and other platforms under the U.S. Coast Guard and AEGIS foreign military sales programs.
According to the notice, the Navy aims to execute a continuous compute infrastructure refresh cycle through component-level modifications and a “hardware factory†concept.
Interested parties must have significant expertise in systems engineering, IaaS design and integration, systems testing and other skill areas related to technology development, the service noted.
Responses to the RFI are due on Sept. 24.
