The National Security Agency has certified a compact device General Dynamics' mission systems unit designed to protect sensitive data at rest in manned or unmanned systems.
The ProtecD@R Multi-Platform encryptor is built to safeguard information up to the top secret level on storage media such as hard drives and server blades, the company said Wednesday.
General Dynamics Mission Systems developed the ProtecD@R technology to complement its suite of Taclane network encryption products.
The hardware measures 85 cubic inches, can be mounted in a rack for stationary and mobile platforms and employs the GEM One software designed to support configuration and management of encryptors via a single console.
"With the growing use of unmanned and autonomous platforms, our customers need to prevent access to classified information in unattended systems," said Brian Morrison, vice president of GDMS' cyber systems business.
