Saab has selected Collins Aerospace to deliver power systems and engine control platforms for the U.S. Air Force’s Boeing T-X trainer aircraft.
Collins Aerospace said Monday it will deliver components such as the Power Take Off shaft, engine start system, Auxiliary Power Engine Control Unit and Main Electric Power Generation System as part of the agreement.
The award builds on Collins Aerospace’s contract with Boeing in January to deliver the former’s ACES 5 ejection seat and landing gear platform for the T-X trainers.
Collins Aerospace’s PTO shaft is designed to handle engine power transmission, while APECU manages all aspects of engine start system and auxiliary power operations.
The firm has been producing PTO shafts since the 1950s and the component is utilized by various military aircraft.
