PAE has secured a potential $75.2M contract to support the Department of Homeland Security‘s Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office in efforts to detect potential biological threats.

The company said Monday its team of scientists will work in laboratories equipped with frontline early warning systems built to monitor airborne attacks as part of the multicity federal program dubbed BioWatch.

John Heller, PAE CEO, said the contract win builds on the company’s growing number of professionals who specialize in technology platforms designed to help the U.S. government counter WMD and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive threats.

DHS established BioWatch in 2003 to provide bioterrorist attack notifications to more than 30 metropolitan areas nationwide. The program employs a network of air sensors to alert federal authorities of pathogens that may pose human health and environmental risks.

PAE has more than 10 years of experience supporting counter-threat efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
