Deborah Lee James, former secretary of the U.S. Air Force, has been named an advisory board member at satellite launch vehicle developer Firefly Aerospace.
Firefly said Monday James has gained knowledge of national security efforts during her three-decade career in the public and private sectors.
“I look forward to helping Firefly revolutionize small launch as we enter a historic era of space commercialization,” said James.
She previously worked as president of Science Applications International Corp.‘s technical and engineering sector, and as a director or an adviser at Unisys, Textron, Bain & Co., LeanIn.Org and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lincoln Laboratory.
Firefly is headquartered in Cedar Park, Texas, and aims to build a portfolio of launch vehicles designed to send light to medium satellites into low-Earth orbit.
