NASA has asked industry to provide feedback on the space agency’s initiative to partner with companies to develop technology platforms that can support government and commercial space missions.
In a FedBizOpps notice posted Thursday, NASA’s space technology mission directorate seeks input on what additional topics the agency should consider for inclusion in “Industry-Developed Tipping Point Technologies†solicitations.
Responses are due Nov. 28.
The agency noted a technology is at tipping point if it shows signs of being able to move into the technological maturation phase and indicates a high probability of commercial space application integration.
STMD issues a request for tipping point proposals annually to enlist the help of companies to develop key space systems without the aid of government funding.
The directorate has identified strategic thrust areas that represent platforms needed for human and robotic explorations in space.
These thrusts seek to facilitate space transportation; increase access to planetary surfaces; enable planetary habitation; expand robotic capabilities; and accelerate space industrialization efforts.
