Lockheed Martin has named WAV4M a domestic reseller for a family of communications products designed to help users cope with emergency environments.
Under the agreement, WAV4M will resell Lockheed’s Universal Communications Platform products that work to support interconnectivity between radio systems, cellular phones, landline phones, voice over Internet protocol phones and smart phones, Lockheed said Wednesday.
The UCP is designed for use with all existing types of radios to allow for surveillance, control and deployment from a networked location, with no discrimination on frequency, band and manufacturer.
“There’s been an ongoing industry debate between traditional land mobile radio versus mission critical push-to-talk, but we see a very real need to bridge both technologies,†said Christian Barker, CEO at WAV4M.
“When first responders react to emergencies, the ability to seamlessly connect state, local and federal organizations, regardless of device, is paramount to public safety,†said Doug Booth, director of business development at Lockheed’s cyber solutions unit.
