Unisys has received a potential five-year, $20 million contract to develop a tactical messaging system for the U.S. Navy‘s telecommunications stations and computers.
The contract from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command covers software development, operations and management support for the Nuclear Command, Control and Communications Navy Modernized Hybrid Solution, the company said Tuesday.
Andrew Boyd, vice president of the defense and intelligence agencies group at Unisys’ federal business, said the company aims to help the service branch’s decision-makers manage and secure data intended for military forces.
The software will support transmission, validation, storage, security and forwarding of messages from Navy personnel who oversee submarine communications and other tactical missions.
