Accenture, Thales Demonstrate Blockchain System at Farnborough Air Show - top government contractors - best government contracting eventAccenture and Thales have partnered to demonstrate a blockchain-based supply chain security platform at the Farnborough Air Show.

The prototype system, based on Linux‘s Hyperledger Fabric project, uses blockchain, internet-of-things and other technologies to detect, trace and authenticate aircraft components, Accenture said Monday.

The system is intended to provide a unified view of the supply chain for parts suppliers, makers and operators of aircraft.

Thales’ physically unclonable function technology is also present in the system.

“Using blockchain in combination with cryptoseals and physically unclonable functions allows you to build a trusted history behind parts,” said Gareth Williams, vice president for secure communications and information systems at Thales U.K.

Accenture found in a recent study that 86 percent of aerospace and defense firms plan to apply blockchain technology in corporate systems by 2021.
