Report: CGI to Add 400 Jobs, Expand IT Center in Louisiana - top government contractors - best government contracting eventCGI has announced plans to create 400 additional jobs as part of the expansion of its 50,000-square-foot information technology facility in Lafayette, La., KATC.com reported Wednesday.

The expansion of the company’s Lafayette IT Center of Excellence at the University of Louisiana Lafayette Research Park is expected to help bring the total number of CGI employees in the state to 900.

CGI will receive an incentive package from the state of Louisiana including a $5.3 million performance-based grant to help compensate for costs related to staff relocation, training, recruitment and maintenance and operations.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards announced CGI’s expansion following the completion of the revised Cooperative Endeavor Agreement among CGI’s federal business, state of Louisiana, Lafayette Economic Development Authority, UL Lafayette, Ragin Cajun Facilities and the Louisiana Economic Development.

“CGI is proud to make this renewed commitment to job creation in Lafayette, where a skilled and highly motivated workforce continues to exceed expectations on behalf of our clients undertaking critical digital transformation projects in Acadiana and across the country,” said Dave Henderson, president of CGI’s U.S. commercial and state government operations.

CGI’s work in Lafayette covers data analytics; application development; cloud and infrastructure management; and hybrid IT.
