‘s BBN Technologies subsidiary has awarded a $2.3 million subcontract to Polaris Alpha for assistance in developing new artificial intelligence tools for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
The team aims to develop semantic-based technologies for abductive reasoning under the agency’s Active Interpretation of Disparate Alternatives program that seeks to construct an adaptive engine that would interpret dynamic, dangerous situations, Polaris Alpha said Tuesday.
“We will be using advanced analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence to quickly process enormous amounts of information,†said Mark Gerken, chief scientist at Polaris Alpha’s Multi-Domain Operations Directorate.
Polaris Alpha will draw from previous research and development projects involving abductive reasoning.
Work will take place at facilities of Polaris Alpha, Analytics and Machine Intelligence Division in Colorado Springs, Colo.
