Retired U.S. Army Gen. Keith Alexander, president and CEO of IronNet Cybersecurity, delivered a keynote speech Monday at the CyberConnect 2017 conference that took place in New York City.
He told event audience he believes the U.S. government should play a key role in efforts to protect trade secrets the same way it helps secure critical infrastructure assets, SiliconANGLE reported Tuesday.
Alexander, an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017, is the former chief of the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command.
The report said CyberConnect’s first day covered topics such as cybersecurity through government-industry data sharing efforts and a community-based strategy to address data protection challenges in the private sector.
The conference also featured discussions related to an automated intrusion technique known as credential stuffing as well as the choice of passwords to access online accounts, the report added.
