Raytheon and the Air Traffic Control Association have introduced a scholarship program for female college students pursuing aviation-related degrees.
ATCA said Wednesday the Raytheon Women in Aviation scholarship includes a summer internship within the company’s intelligence, information and services, transportation and support services units.
“This new scholarship aims to encourage women to pursue exciting and challenging career opportunities in aviation and air traffic control,” said Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services.
“Our goal is to help close the distinct gender gap in the air traffic control field,” added Wajsgras, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017.
ATCA President and CEO Peter Dumont said the association aims to help increase the percentage of women in the aviation workforce through the scholarship.
