Chip Bergh, lead independent director of HP Inc.‘s board of directors since March, has been elected as the personal computer and printing company’s independent board chairman.
HP said Wednesday Bergh succeeds Meg Whitman, who held the chairman post since the former Hewlett-Packard organization split in November 2015 into two independent companies now known as HP and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
Whitman is currently president, CEO and board member at HPE.
“Meg was instrumental in the formation of HP and in helping us to navigate early life as a separate company, bringing essential experience and continuity of leadership to our entire team,â€Â said HP President and CEO Dion Weisler.
“I have deep respect for Meg, Dion and the entire HP board and leadership team and am honored by this important role as HP accelerates its innovation agenda,†Bergh said.
Bergh has served as president and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co. since September 2011 and previously spent 28 years at Procter and Gamble.
