Oracle seeks to pump $200 million for the next 18 months into a White House initiative meant to support computer science education in the U.S.
The investment on the Computer Science for All program is intended to provide computer science education to more than 200,000 students through the Oracle Academy educational program, Oracle said Wednesday.
“Our latest research findings confirm that access to computer science education in the United States is both an economic and social equality issue,” said Alison Derbenwick Miller, vice president of Oracle Academy.
“Moreover, these findings help quantify and contextualize the need to expand CS to all students regardless of race, gender or socioeconomic status.”
The company said Oracle Academy will offer free academic curriculum services, professional development for teachers, certification resources, outreach support and access to Oracle software and computer science courses.
SAP also announced a partnership with the White House to provide opportunities for K-12 students to build skills in the business and computer science fields as part of the Computer Science for All initiative.
