KBR, Central Louisiana Technical Community College and Fort Polk have teamed up to launch a craft training program in pipefitting for active-duty military personnel.
The team created the Veteran Pipefitting Training Program to help service members prepare for an industrial civilian career after their service in the military, KBR said Tuesday.
Fort Polk’s Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program and KBR representatives will select applicants from the base to participate in the 16-week program, the company added.
“This generation’s post-9/11 veterans represent an extraordinary pool of talent and leadership that the craft industry needs,” said David Zelinski, KBR onshore Americas business division president.
He added that the company’s partnership with Fort Polk works to assist veterans to utilize their skills in craft professions on their transition period back to the civilian world.
KBR will invest on the facilities at CLTCC and cover professional fees for instructors in support of the training program.
The company noted that upon completion of training, the participating service members will receive hands-on and academic training credentials from the National Center for Construction Education and Research.
