Intel, Mutualink and the San Mateo County Sheriff have won the IJIS Institute’s 2016 Innovation Award for the Internet of Public Safety Things.
The award honors technical contributions to further the interoperability of justice, public safety and homeland security projects, Mutualink said Thursday.
“We are glad to be honored with Mutualink and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office to help deliver a nationally recognized public safety innovation,” said Roger Chandler, director of business planning and innovation within the software and solutions group at Intel.
Mutualink introduced its Intel chip-powered wearable communications gateway designed to help first responders share information with public safety agencies.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office tested the gateway during Urban Shield 2015.
