Thales-logoThales has been selected by Paris-based transport operator RATP to equip 1,000 buses and trams with the company’s video technology.

The new contract brings the total number of RATP-owned buses and trams with Thales’ On Board Video 8000 tool to 5,000 since 2002, the company announced Friday.

On Board Video 8000 products are built to help buses record, retrieve and analyze audiovisual information from cameras that are installed in passenger spaces.

The video technology also has metadata tagging features that work to help investigators search for clips.
